Perseus was a hero, a man of honor, and as such, he actively tried to avoid conflict when possible, but he didn’t shirk his duties when asked to step up. Our Perseus holster does the same for you. It’s there when needed, dependable, reliable, and robust. Retaining your firearm safely so that if and when you might need your firearm, it will be there for you. 

Constructing Quality

The Perseus holster, continuing in the tradition of quality construction that Dark Star Gear is proud to offer. It has the complete trigger protection you’ve come to expect from quality holsters. This allows for the peace of mind that your defensive tools are accessible yet protected. Since the trigger guard is so critical to retention, trigger protection isn’t something we’re willing to compromise on.

Swapping to Slots

With the Perseus, we’ve transitioned from circular attachment point design to slots. This adjustment allows customers to make faster adjustments to their chosen attachments. Sometimes, the difference between comfort and discomfort is a tiny adjustment up, down, side to side,. Sometimes slightly canted to allow rapid access to the grip, and slots make the holsters more accommodating of those changes. 

Because of the slot attachment design, our new version has even more height and cant adjust. Gone are the days when customers have to settle for a holster that only works for someone of a certain height or girth. We want our customers to be able to make holsters work for real people with real bodies so they are more likely to carry them regularly. Individuals will be able to fine-tune their holster position to optimize comfort and concealability. Everyone has different requirements, and customers can decide what works for them. 

New Heights

Perseus used his winged sandals and trusty steed Pegasus to help him rise. Although we can’t promise that the Perseus holster will help you fly, the new Perseus comes standard with Adjustable Ride Height. Along with mastering the basic expectations of trigger protection, retention, and safe reholstering.

Different pant styles, cover garments, and environments can require users to adjust their gear up or down to accommodate lower or higher waistlines. Our Adjustable Ride Height will ensure that users can accommodate their wardrobe and lifestyle rather than compromising for the sake of a suboptimal design. 

Perseus had many tools he could access, from winged sandals to a shield, a helm of invisibility, and even Pegasus, our favorite winged stallion. It’s only fitting that your Perseus holster should be able to accommodate multiple attachments. 

Most users prefer dual clips now rather than a single attachment option, so with the changes we’ve made, we can make those clips wider and more secure. Having a holster that is stable and secure is a priority. It’s important that if someone needs to access their firearm, the position of that firearm is consistent and reliable. The dual clips can help with positioning for a consistent draw and a stable holster for safe reholstering.  Adjustable retention is a standard feature with many of our holsters, and the Perseus continues that tradition. Customers can adjust their Perseus to have the optimal retention amount, which allows users to increase or decrease the retention with different use cases.

In addition to its versatility in attachments and adjustability, the Perseus holster can switch from IWB to AIWB as needed to accommodate various cover garments and carry modes. With the addition of the Dark Wing, the Perseus can work in AIWB to make the holster more discreet and assist in inward cant. The Perseus functions as an IWB holster without the Dark Wing, comfortably concealed. We can’t promise you the helm of invisibility that helped Perseus move with stealth, but we can offer you the means to be discreet and concealed in your day-to-day dealings. Others should only know that you’re carrying if you need them to know. 

It’s not polished to a mirror finish like Perseus’ shield, but the smooth, rounded muzzle area is a comfortable feature of the Perseus holster. When sitting at your desk, driving, or eating at a restaurant with friends, you shouldn’t have to adjust your holster to avoid having sharp, unfinished edges digging into your body. We ensure comfort in any position by finishing the muzzle and rounding the holster. 

Continuing Our Traditions

Something Dark Star first brought to the market years ago is forming holsters for smaller guns with an extension designed into the mold. We first did this with wood and modeling clay on inert guns before designing and manufacturing our molds from the ground up. 

Due to the extended slide portion under the belt, the holster has more leverage to react back and force the muzzle outward, thus pushing the exposed portion above the belt inward, increasing concealability. Think of it this way: if you have an iceberg floating in the water, what stabilizes that chunk of ice and keeps it from flipping sideways is the ice that is below the surface of the water, not the ice above. 

In the same way, the slightly longer slide of our Perseus holster beneath the belt line helps stabilize the exposed slides and grip of a standard handgun, making the firearm less likely to flip forward above the belt line. An additional benefit here is that the corner of the slide on the muzzle is lower, and with the longer lever, it applies less inward force to the softer pelvic tissue. In other words, less poking uncomfortably in toward your belly. The bottom line is that the muzzle extension helps the AIWB holster be more comfortable and concealable.

In addition to the muzzle end being rounded and smoothed and the muzzle extension adding additional comfort, we’ve designed the Perseus holster to have smooth and clean slide control blocking. This means you won’t have to contend with sharp or blocky edges. You can focus on your situation and surroundings rather than thinking about your holster. While you’re protecting yourself and your loved ones, you shouldn’t be distracted by any sharp edges or corners digging and poking into your body. 

Perseus in Perspective

Perseus was forward-thinking, and the Perseus holster is, too, with an optic cut now as the standard. Slide-mounted optics are no longer a novelty; they’ve been proven reliable, and they’re now becoming a popular choice for optimizing the shooting experience. 

The Perseus holster is made for the optimal experience. Does that mean that iron sights won’t work with the Perseus? Of course not, but as with the ability to choose holster placement, cant, and ride, having the optic cut standard means the holster will work regardless of your preferred sighting choice. 

Perseus dealt with discomfort and challenge, but he used the tools that he was gifted to overcome his challenges. We’re happy to have you use your iron sights or optics, but we want you to be comfortable while doing so, so we’ve ensured that your skin will be protected from sharp rear sights. Just like the gods wanted Perseus to succeed, we want you to succeed by having your firearm accessible comfortably so that you will wear our holsters often. Discomfort is not okay. We know that people who carry uncomfortable and unfinished holsters often opt to leave those holsters at home – we don’t want that to be your decision. Comfort means you will have the tools you need when you need them. Contemplate if Perseus had decided that his winged sandals hurt his feet or his shield cut into his arm uncomfortably, so he left them behind. It’s pretty anticlimactic to imagine the hero stopping to nurse his wounds rather than rushing to the defense of people terrorized by a dangerous sea monster. 

Finally, taking a cue from the competitive world, the Perseus holster will have a flared mouth to ensure easy reholstering. If the holster retains your firearm, it is easy to draw from but doesn’t allow for safe reholstering. It’s not a holster we want to provide our customers. The Perseus holster will keep you safe before the fight and after the fighting is done as you store your firearm away.
